Among many other activities in the area, we absolutely loved the “The world famous” Skunk Train 🚂
Why does everyone want to be world famous by the way?
Anyhow, Skunk Train is a great attraction for kids and adults alike. It starts from the station located in Fort Bragg and offers a leisurely 1-hour ride through majestic redwood forests on a historic train. The train has three cars, one of them being open so you can stand and breathe the clean forest air. They do their best to recreate the historic look and feel of the train (it’s more than 100 years old) – staff wears traditional uniforms and they even yell “all aboard” to announce the boarding time.
Why Skunk? Apparently, back in the day when they used to burn crude oil to power the engines, locals had been saying “you could smell it before you could see it”, so it’s been named Skunk and the name stuck 🙂

Another famous attraction in Fort Bragg: Glass beach 💎
It’s kind of funny how people have ruined this place twice. First, people decided that the best way to clean up the garbage created by the 1906 earthquake was to store it in the ocean and just dumped it all on the beaches. Water did its magic over the years, and vast amounts of broken glass were smoothed and turned into beautiful colored beads.
Second time happened in recent years when everyone decided that they should take a piece of this urbanistic beauty home with them and stole most of the glass beads. Nowadays you can still see a lot of them, but mostly the small ones are left. It still looks pretty beautiful though 🙂
