This was our first time in Sausalito – we finally made it to this quaint coastal town featured in every top 10 list of day trips from the Bay Area.
Luckily we found a time slot when it didn’t rain – and biked from Mill Valley to Sausalito – the bike trail between the two towns is exceptionally high quality for a family ride.
For lunch we stopped at Joinery – they got a great selection of food, but we enjoyed their grilled cheese the most – it has caramelized onions in addition to cheese – making it a dry version of french onion soup 🙂
And then we had a sweet finish of the trip at Lapperts – one of Sausalito’s iconic spots, serving Hawaiian style ice cream 🍨
Sausalito offers amazing views of San Francisco, Alcatraz island, and the bay, and plenty of seals swimming right by the coast, ensuring that kids are entertained 🦭
On the way back we tried stopping at the Instagram-famous Tree Swing in Tiburon – but it was too cloudy to get a good view of Golden Gate bridge from there, so now we’ll have to come back, not that we’re unhappy doing that 🙂
