If you have ever been to a good (not even luxury) hotel in Asia, you will be laughing at most of the “luxury” accommodations in the States (and at many in Europe) from that moment on. Asian hospitality leaves no chance to others.
A few years ago we got to stay in Park Hyatt Tokyo – and it truly is one of the best hotels we have stayed at. If you have ever seen Lost In Translation movie you might remember it from there. Rooms, service, food – everything is top-notch. At check-in when they offered us to sit on a sofa and one of the receptionists came to us to do the check-in (instead of regular routine of staying in line and then standing at the counter), Christine (5 years old at the time) asked us “Why are they so nice in here?” 🙂 They had presents for the kids ready in the room, and that was the first time we’ve seen kids’ bath robes – you can see Christine sporting them before entering the hotel’s famous swimming pool. They also had kids’ nightgowns, slippers, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, etc. waiting for us in the room. Another big plus of Park Hyatts is their concierge services – ready to help with anything. They booked our airport transportation for us, gave great restaurants recommendations, and even offered to return the mobile wifi router we rented from a local carrier
And about credit cards – we stayed there for free! Back then Chase Hyatt credit card gave you a free night at any Hyatt hotel when you get the card – so we both applied for the cards and got two nights. Nowadays the card’s bonus changed to 60000 Hyatt points which can still give you two nights at a Park Hyatt anywhere in the world.
