Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo

Yes, these are all tuna fish 🐟

It is the Tsukiji Fish Market – the largest seafood market in the world. (If you want to follow our steps – it got moved to a new location and renamed to Toyosu Fish Market a couple of years ago)

This is the auction floor where insane amounts of insanely large tuna are sold, each in just 6 seconds. That’s where top sushi chefs worldwide get the best ingredients – the record sale in Tsukiji was $1.7M for one bluefin tuna (it must have been a big one!)

Back in 2016 getting on the actual auction floor was extremely hard, as you had to stay in line all night (well, we hired a local guy to do that for us, as we didn’t really want to spend all night waiting there with a 4-year old), but looks like it’s more civil these days at Toyosu market where you can book the tour online and need to do it far enough in advance
